Korean Embassy boosts Korean language education in Nepal

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal organised the 2026 Korean Language Promotion Day at Bishwa Bhasa Campus, Kathmandu, recently, highlighting the growing interest in Korean language education across Nepal.

 Tae-young Park, Korean ambassador to Nepal, attended the programme and encouraged the concerned stakeholders; Hangeul School and King Sejong Institute to further promote the Korean Language Education in Nepal.

 Speaking at the event, Ambassador Park said that the Embassy has been actively organising various programmes to promote culture and language exchanges between Nepal and Korea.

 He noted that continued mutual cooperation would further strengthen bilateral ties and elevate relations between the two nations to new heights.

 The Korean Embassy in Nepal has cooperated closely with the EPS Centre, Tribhuvan University, and higher secondary schools in Nepal to Support Korean language education.

 Each year, the Embassy conducts a survey to assess the demand for Korean language textbooks in education centers that offer Korean as an optional subject.

 In 2026, the Embassy is in the process of distributing 600 Korean books, donated by a local government in Korea to relevant institutions.

 A high school in Lumbini Province received 100 Korean textbooks from the EPS Center in January 2026. Some High School plans to include Korean language as an optional subject in secondary education Examination (S.E.E).

 Further, 36 prospective Korean language teachers completed Korean language teacher training courses in 2023 and 2024 at Bishwo Bhasa Campus (T.U) to Nepalese for Korean Language Teacher Training Programme, with financial support of USD 63,000.

As stated previously, the dog biting cannot be cured here. Rabies-infected dog bites can be fatal if not vaccinated on time.  Because of this, these dogs require proper management. We should be cautious of aggressive dogs.  A complete rabies vaccine should be given after any dog bite.
