The safest place to play chess!

   FairPlay

 Jun 16, 2026

Hello, everybody!

Here we are with an update for May.  This month, nearly 164 thousand accounts were closed due to fair play violations. This is almost a 20k increase from the previous month.  As for titled closures, there were 20.

A few months ago, we talked about autobans; automated techniques that our research experts build to identify and close accounts that are violating fair play.  Last month, we introduced a powerful new autoban we're excited about.  This autoban is the best to date at identifying a wide range of cheaters with a focus on those that selectively cheat across their games to try to avoid detection.

Through this, thousands of players that we might not have identified as quickly before its introduction have been closed. We're continuing to investigate ways to refine this method, as well as many others, to keep Chess.com as the safest place to play chess!

 That's all for this time!
