Does knowing your water is older than the Sun make an ordinary glass feel different?

Drink some water.

Some of these molecules have been around longer than the Sun. Before our star, planet, or anything else that you are aware of ever existed, they formed in the cold, dark interstellar space. This was discovered by scientists through clever chemical investigation. Depending on the type of hydrogen that is contained within them, water molecules have slightly different flavors.

Deuterium, a heavier form of hydrogen, can be found in some. And the key is here. The conditions under which the water formed completely determine the ratio of heavy water to ordinary water. That ratio acts like a fingerprint or a timestamp. When scientists measured the water in comets, ancient meteorites, Earth's oceans, and Earth's atmosphere, they discovered unusually high levels of this heavy hydrogen. Too high to have formed in the churning, warm disk surrounding our infant Sun. The extremely icy molecular cloud that existed before our star's ignition necessitates extremely low temperatures, close to absolute zero, for the production of water with that signature. Therefore, the conclusion is astonishing.

This is not where most of the water in our solar system came from. It was inherited. It came together on the surfaces of icy dust grains that were drifting in a dark cloud, remained intact throughout the violent birth of the Sun, became entangled in rocks and comets, and was eventually delivered to an Earth that was just beginning to form. This indicates that the water in your glass, the ocean, and your body may be older than the Sun, possibly by more than 4.6 billion years.

It existed here before the planets. It observed their growth. You are carrying around a piece of the pre-solar cloud inside you right now, drinking something older than the star that keeps you alive.
