Earth is the only world confirmed to have trees and wood.
Wood may be one of the darkest materials in the universe, even though diamonds are common in space.
It sounds unbelievable, but diamonds are likely far more common in the universe than wood. While diamonds can form naturally under extreme pressures inside planets, stars, and even in interstellar environments, wood requires a very specific chain of biological events that may be extraordinarily rare.
Secondary growth is the process by which vascular plants make the biological material wood. It is made primarily of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin—complex organic compounds that are the result of billions of years of evolution on Earth.
Diamonds, on the other hand, are formed entirely naturally through processes in astrophysics and geology. Micron-sized diamonds have been found in interstellar dust clouds, around dying stars, and in meteorites. Some planets, such as Uranus and Neptune, are even thought to produce “diamond rain” deep within their interiors under immense pressure.

occurring materials in the known universe until evidence of complex plant life
is discovered elsewhere. This is not because it is difficult to make, but
rather because it requires the existence of advanced biology.
