her mind active by playing board games and solving math puzzles. She also had a
sweet tooth and enjoyed eating chocolate.
She also enjoyed soda, which she happily consumed into her later years.
Her long life inspired many people across Japan and around the world. She was even chosen to be an Olympic torchbearer
for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
However, because of concerns about COVID-19, she later decided to
withdraw from the event.

1922, she married Hideo Tanaka. They

second-oldest verified person in history.
Only Jeanne Calment of France, who lived to the age of 122, lived
longer.
