Time doesn't move at the same speed everywhere in the universe, and the closer you get to something as massive as TON 618, the more dramatically that becomes true.

Astronomers are still trying to determine the exact mass of TON 618, which is one of the largest black holes ever discovered. Its mass is estimated to be between 40.7 and 66 billion times that of our Sun. Different measurement techniques are being used to narrow down the exact figure. Its event horizon alone stretches roughly 1,300 astronomical units across, meaning it could swallow our entire solar system, planets and all, many times over without even filling the space inside it.

 The time dilation effect comes straight from Einstein's general relativity.  Gravity doesn't just pull on objects; it actually slows down the passage of time itself, and the closer you get to a massive object's event horizon, the more extreme that slowdown becomes relative to someone far away.  Hover near enough to any black hole's horizon, and a single year for you could correspond to a much longer stretch of time passing for someone watching from Earth; this exact idea is what inspired Miller's planet in the movie Interstellar.

 Here's a genuinely counterintuitive twist worth knowing.  The stretching effect known as tidal forces, which would shred an individual in the vicinity of a smaller black hole, actually weakens as the black hole grows in size. This indicates that you could theoretically survive the tidal forces that would tear you apart around a smaller stellar-mass black hole close to TON 618's event horizon. Even if you could survive on tides, you wouldn't be safe from everything. 

TON 618 is also a hyperluminous quasar that gives off radiation the size of 140 trillion Suns, so anything close to it would be exposed to lethal radiation long before spaghettification became an issue. Does it surprise you that surviving a black hole's gravity might actually be easier the more massive that black hole is?
