Producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed at D23 on August 16 that talks with Johnny Depp about returning as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 6 are underway, telling Deadline, “We’re talking with Johnny, we’re working on a screenplay, and hopefully we can get this done.”  No deal has been signed yet.

 Worth noting that the next film may actually center on a new protagonist rather than Jack Sparrow, with Margot Robbie reportedly in the mix.  The franchise has been dormant since 2017.
