The new PoP, to be installed at Data, World's data Centre IN Nepal.
Big One !! 😮 Meta has announced that it will deploy its own Point of Presence (PoP) server in Kathmandu by the end of 2026, becoming the first global technology company to establish its own physical network infrastructure in Nepal.
The new PoP, to be
installed at Data World's data centre in Matatirthha, is expected to
significantly improve the speed and reliability of Facebook, Instagram,
WhatsApp, and Messenger by serving more content locally.
Meta's platforms
currently account for around 25% of Nepal's international internet bandwidth,
but that figure is expected to drop to about 5% once the server is operational,
reducing international bandwidth costs for local ISPs.
The move is also
expected to strengthen Nepal's internet infrastructure and encourage more
global technology companies to invest directly in the country's digital
ecosystem.
