A Tibetan man named Jamphel Yeshi set himself on fire during a protest in New Delhi, India.  The activists were speaking out against Chinese rule of the Himalayas. The incident occurred hours before the arrival of Chinese President Hu Jintao.  On March 26, 2012, a summit of emerging economies was organized.

Yeshi, 27, died from his injuries in the hospital.  A handwritten statement was found in his room, which read:

"The fact that the Tibetan people are setting themselves on fire in this 21st century is to let the world know of their suffering."

It is important to keep in mind that a young Tunisian man named Mohamed Bouazizi set himself ablaze in December 2010 as a means of protesting the living conditions in his country. He didn't know it, but this desperate act, which would lead to his death, would ultimately culminate in what would later be called the Arab Spring.
