Why Nazis forced Holocaust victims to undress before gas chambers.

Why were Holocaust victims required to undress before being put into gas chambers? To really get what happened during the Holocaust, you have to understand the reality of it.  The Nazi guards made prisoners take off all their clothes before they went into the gas chambers.  They purposely did this to prevent fighting. First, the guards lied to the prisoners to keep them calm. 

  If all the people knew they were going to die, they would have fought back.  So the guards told them they were going to take a shower.  The rooms where they changed had numbered hooks on the wall.  The guards told the prisoners to remember their hook number so they could get their clothes later.  The prisoners believed what they were told.  did what was quietly asked of them. Second, the Nazis wanted to get as much as they could from the prisoners. 

  The prisoners' warm clothing and coats could be used to assist the army. If the prisoners died with their clothes on, the clothes would be ruined.  So the guards made them take their clothes off first to keep them clean.  Then the guards sorted through everything.  inspected for any hidden cash. All of the clothing was sent to Germany so that the soldiers could wear it. Third, taking away the prisoners' clothes was a way to take away their pride.  

When people are forced to stand naked in front of strangers with guns, they feel very scared and vulnerable.  This was done by the guards to depress the prisoners' spirits. In their final moments, the Nazis made sure that the prisoners were too afraid to fight back. You have a responsibility to remember the Holocaust victims every day without forgetting.
